A general story for the currently in-production “Star Wars: Starfighter” has reportedly been posted online.
The title has been pitched as an “all-new standalone adventure” set in an “entirely original story set in a period of time never before explored in Star Wars”.
The film will take place around five years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” taking us further into the future than the franchise has gone before and well after the defeat of Palpatine and the First Order, and a new era of the series.
Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams star in the film, which mostly seems to be about Gosling’s character protecting Gray’s young character.
John Rocha from The Hot Mic’s is reporting that the film’s story boils down to this:
“The main kid is Force-sensitive. His mom is being played by Amy Adams. She seems to be a Jedi. Gosling is not a Jedi, but he’s helping his nephew escape two evil bad guys who are chasing him across the stars. He has a mission he’s on, given to him by Adams.”
This aligns with online theories that Gosling’s character is seeking to deliver the kid to the newly established Jedi Academy, being run by Rey (Daisy Ridley), and thus potentially leading into the Rey-centric “New Jedi Order” feature.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Free Guy” director Shawn Levy helms the movie, producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy. Jonathan Tropper penned the script.
“Star Wars: Starfighter” will be released theatrically on May 28, 2027, and we will cover the news as it becomes available, with RPG elements being developed following the digital release.
